Since vacation time is coming up I thought you’d might appreciate a list of book suggestions.
My first recommendation is The Big Leap
And of course, my own ebook: Attract Better Clients written in 2014, its free, put it on your phone using Adobe Reader with Liquid enabled for easy reading.
You, your people and intentional action
The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles
The Effective Manager (One on ones are the biggest thing you can do for great results and retention)
The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way Your Lead Forever 1 (it’s not what you say that matters, it’s what they do and feel)
The Power of Vulnerability: Teachings on Authenticity, Connection and Courage (ensure you get the audiobook, its way more powerful than the textbook)
Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well (How open are you, REALLY, for embracing reality?)
The Big Leap I recommend you get the audiobook version, it’s narrated by the author and it really worked wonders for me.
The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth
Start with why by Simon Sinek
Essentialism by Greg Mckeown
Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World
Younger Next Year (its for old men, but there is one for women and its worth making a choice)
Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
The world is not what we believe it is
(embrace reality, imagine better, intentional action)
The Memory Illusion: Why You Might Not Be Who You Think You Are (you’re rewriting who you are every time you’re recollecting and sometimes there are errors for good and bad)
Everybody Lies: Big Data, New Data, and What the Internet Can Tell Us About Who We Really Are (Don’t trust surveys and our own biased self, trust data and behaviour)
Weapons of Math Destruction: How Big Data Increases Inequality and Threatens Democracy
(watch TEDx talk to save time, I love algorithms and data, but its not the truth, its just one representation of it even if its often more trustworthy than the bias self)The Selfish Gene (how we betray ourselves. My genes in my body is not programmed to save me, only to save one of our kind. My gene will betray me to increase the odds to save anyone+ the sinus curve illustrations of change and progress are awesome in this book)
The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes - and Why 1 (scary reading but effective, will open your eyes when in big groups)
Finite and Infinite Games by James Carse (original version written 1986)
Homecoming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child by John Bradshaw (I recommend getting the text version, a bit preachy to listen to but that’s subjective)
Eyes Wide Open by Isaac Lidsky
Some story-reading that I recommend just for fun
The Martian is a lot better than the movie, make sure to grab the audiobook version because it’s a lot of jokes in this book. It is an excellent combination with the A Beautiful Constraint
you won’t complain about what you have to work with to “build your life” while you’re reading the Martian. You’ll be grateful for what you have and get to it.We Are Legion (Be mindful of the contract you sign. It might take you way beyond your wildest imagination. Trapped in an infinite unlucky loop if you’re unlucky, or…explore the book and see)
Ready Player One (A great gamers book, I really recommend the audioversion with Wil Wheton) also like always its a lot better than the movie (which I also like)
Wool by Hugh Howey (not spoiling it, please read it)
Who Moved my Cheese by Spencer Johnson (light leadership, perfect vacation reading)
The Latte Factor: Why You Don’t Have to Be Rich to Live Rich (important message yet easy to digest during a vacation)
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind (you understand humans better yet its also just a pleasure to read)
